This Privacy Policy explains how NeatLock (the "App"), developed by John Steinmetz, handles your information. NeatLock is built on a simple principle: your photos and videos never leave your device without your explicit action. No media is uploaded to our servers โ€” ever.

Summary

Photo and Video Library Access

NeatLock requests access to your photo and video library to provide its core features: finding duplicates, identifying low-quality photos, detecting screenshots, and moving media into the secure vault. This access is used only on your device. No photos or videos are transmitted to our servers, to RevenueCat, or to any other third party.

You can revoke photo library access at any time via Settings โ†’ Privacy & Security โ†’ Photos โ†’ NeatLock.

Secure Vault

Media you move into the NeatLock secure vault is stored on your device, encrypted by iOS and protected by your Face ID or Touch ID. Authentication is handled entirely by Apple's biometric APIs (LocalAuthentication framework) โ€” we do not collect, store, or transmit biometric data. The vault contents never leave your device unless you manually share or export them.

On-Device Processing

All photo analysis โ€” duplicate detection, blur scoring, screenshot identification, and quality assessment โ€” is performed locally using Apple's on-device frameworks (Vision, Photos). No image data is sent to any server for analysis. Processing happens privately on your device.

iCloud Sync (Optional)

If you enable iCloud for NeatLock, app preferences and vault metadata (but not vault media itself) may sync via Apple CloudKit to your personal iCloud account. We do not have access to your iCloud data. You control iCloud sync through iOS Settings โ†’ [your name] โ†’ iCloud. Apple Privacy Policy

Subscription Processing via RevenueCat

NeatLock uses RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions and entitlement validation. RevenueCat receives only an anonymous, randomly-generated app installation identifier โ€” it receives no photos, no videos, no name, no email address, and no personally identifying information of any kind.

What We Do Not Collect

We do not track users across apps or websites.

Third-Party Services

Data Security

The secure vault is protected by iOS encryption and biometric authentication. App data is stored using Apple on-device storage technologies protected by your device passcode. We minimize data collection to reduce your exposure โ€” the best security practice is not collecting sensitive data in the first place.

Children's Privacy

NeatLock is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your Rights

Because NeatLock stores data locally on your device, you maintain full control. You can delete vault contents and app data within the App at any time, or delete the App to remove all locally stored data.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The Last Updated date above will reflect any changes.
